Dr. Bruce Cummings is a well-known Kansas City Prosthodontist. He has a prosthodontic reconstructive dental practice providing specialized rehabilitative care with an emphasis on cosmetic and implant dentistry.
EDUCATION and TEACHING:
In addition to his full-time private practice in prosthodontics, Dr. Cummings was also an Adjunct/Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry for 17 years.
Dr. Cummings attended the UMKC School of Dentistry Advanced Specialty Education Program in Prosthodontics. In this multi-year post-doctoral residency he obtained training in cosmetic, implant, and reconstructive dentistry and was awarded certification as a Prosthodontic specialist.
Prior to that, Dr. Cummings received his D.D.S. degree from the UMKC School of Dentistry, where he received the Gold Cane Award, was President of his class, and served as President of the American Student Dental Association. He also served on the Student Senate and the Dean’s Progress and Review committee, received a research grant, and was awarded membership to Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. He then practiced as a general dentist for four years prior to receiving his Prosthodontic Specialist certification.
Dr. Cummings lectures extensively on dental prosthodontics to dental organizations. He is the founder of the Dr. Bruce Cummings Dental Study Club, affiliated with Spear Education, which is regarded internationally as one of the most advanced continuing education study groups for dental professionals.
HONORS:
Dr. Cummings was selected by world’s largest dental implant manufacturer, The Straumann Group, as one of 24 prosthodontists worldwide to serve on their “Expert Team” for the design of their BLX implant. Also, Dr. Cummings is one of the “Top Dentists in Kansas City” as selected by his peers for multiple consecutive years.
SERVANT LEADERSHIP:
Dr. Cummings has been the President and served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Kansas City Dental Society, a Delegate to the Missouri Dental Association, the President of the Clay-Platte Dental Society, served on the Rinehart Foundation and the “Pouring From the Heart” committee at the UMKC Dental School. He has served as the Alumni Representative on the UMKC Dental School Admissions Committee.
MEMBERSHIPS:
His memberships include the American College of Prosthodontists, American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, Greater Kansas City Dental Society, and numerous dental study clubs. Previous affiliations include the International Team for Implant Dentistry, Spear Education, the Academy of Osseointegration, the Pankey Institute, and the Dawson Academy.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
Dr. Cummings serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the HNC Living Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping head and neck cancer patients live life fully. He also volunteers with the Missouri Mission of Mercy dental clinic that provides free oral healthcare to patients of all ages who cannot otherwise afford or access care.
